About Us
Wessex Militaria was founded by myself in 2002, being a military historian I have a keen interest in military history spanning all eras. With a wealth of knowledge covering all military items from arms and armours to military vehicles, I am always on the lookout for anything interesting especially if it has provenance and a story behind it. Every military item I handle has its own story to tell and my god if those items could speak, it’s through these items that we learn about history.
Military artefact should be preserved and studied, there is great knowledge to be gained from their history and an appreciation of the struggles from our past which should serve as a lesson to learn from. Without these physical items history would be forever lost to the younger generation to whom we intrust the future of this world.
During my 25 years of collecting I have had the immense honour of fund raising for military charities including the Normandy Veterans Association. Supplying period equipment for veterans to run hands on workshops showing members of the public the equipment they used along with their experiences of war. This immersion positively generates interest from the public and in turn acts as a tool of education to what those men, those heros endured and the sacrifices made by the many who lost their lives in all wars past and present.
I will always look back with fond memories at the times shared with many veterans, including those of the Sherwood Rangers Yeomany and the Normandy Veterans Association. Their kindness and support will always be appreciated and to my own grandfather, a tank trooper during the war who sparked my interest in the world of collecting when I was just 7 years old.
We still have a lot of work to do, it’s surprising how many people are unaware of major military events during our modern history. So If you have any militaria which is not being appreciated and would like to sell then please get in touch and lets preserve it for generations to come.
